Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the estuarial region of Bramhani-Baitarani, in the north-eastern place of Kendrapara district of Odisha (Orissa), the sanctuary covers an area of 672 square kilometers of Mangrove Forests and Wetland. Three rivers flow out to sea at Bhitarkanika forming a tidal maze of muddy creeks and mangroves. Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary is home to numerous species of birds. It is also home to the endangered and mysterious King Cobras. The sanctuary has to its account is the inhibition of its ecosystem by the Giant Estuarine Crocodiles and numerous varieties of other animal species.
BHITARKANIKA EXPEDITIONS
DAY 1
- We’ll be leaving from Bhubaneswar today by 4 am
- On the way to breakfast & check-in by 8-9 am
- Briefing about wildlife photography by 9 am and we’ll be ready for the shoot
- First half we’ll look for the birds and wild animals
- Back at 1 p.m. for lunch and start again at 2:30 pm
- Photography review & post-processing workshop in the room by 7 pm
- Dinner by 9 pm and sleep early for the next day early morning start
- If weather permits we can do some astrophotography
DAY 2
- Wakeup and be ready by 5:30 am
- Boat drive to photograph kingfishers of Bhitarkanika from Khola jetty
- Breakfast will be arranged near Dangamal jetty by 8 am
- Return from there and be ready for a nature walk for 6-7 km
- Return for lunch by 1-2 pm. After lunch, we can do birding till 5-6 pm
- Time for the second search for the elusive fishing cat which will be a bonus for everyone
DAY 3
- Wakeup and be ready by 5:30 am to start last day boating
- Breakfast will be arranged near Dangamal jetty by 8 am
- Make yourself ready for the nature walk and pass by the saltwater crocodiles
- Return for Lunch 1-2 pm After lunch, we can do some ground birding
- By 5 pm we will be leaving Bhitarkanika with lots of good memories and end our expedition

As people travel from different parts of the country to our expeditions it is not convenient to arrange this from our end, but we can arrange pick-up & drop from the nearest airport or railway stations.
